CLIMATE The Andaman & Nicobar Islands are situated in the equatorial belt and exposed to marine influences and have a tropical climate, warm, moist and equable. The temperature ranges from 22˚ C to 32˚ C. The average annual rainfall ranges from 3,000 to 3,500mm and humidity varies from 66 to 85 percent. Normally the average rainfall is received during May to December (2250 mm in May-September during southwest monsoon and 685 mm in October-December during northeast monsoon) and remaining occurs during January-April. This is the dry period and the numbers of rainy day in each of these four months hardly exceed three. Agricultural crops suffer badly during this period due to moisture stress. In some years the Islands have experienced rains during all the months of the year, Cyclone occur during the monsoons, accompanied by very strong winds mainly during May and November and in some years during mid-April
